“I’ve been here for 17 years and I lived in Wollongong before that.

I moved here to hide … from my ex.

We’ve got a daughter who’s now 17. I was with him for 3 years and then, you know, it was just a real battle. Lots of violence. Lots of police. A lot of court.  Lots of … all that.

Docs were involved. They took my daughter straight out of hospital. They were gonna take her off me. I fought them. And won. Got her back. They only had her three weeks.

So, I moved. I moved up here … with the help of DoCS. And, um, he wasn’t real happy.

But that was a long time ago. I’m not hiding anymore.

And I suppose it was supposed to be a new start. But we moved up here with no family or friends. We moved into one of the worst neighbourhoods I’ve ever lived in. They call it Sin City.

So, it’s a battle. It’s still a constant battle.”
